Industry research has shown that 80.9% of companies indicated that human resources are the biggest obstacle in achieving digital transformation. This caused employee resistance to change and prevented companies from starting or continuing the process of implementing Industry 4.0. The solution to these problems is brought by the new strategy of Industry 5.0, which shifts the focus from technology and place human in the center.

Smart manufacturing supports digital transformation and describes the application of various combinations of Industry 5.0 technologies powered by AI, highlighting capabilities such as “self-awareness”, “self-prediction”, “self-maintenance” and “self-learning”. Smart manufacturing and Industry 5.0 solutions aim to strengthen the digital innovation ecosystem for sustainable human-centered manufacturing through the synergy of industry and academy.
