The Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI) has been established by the Government of Serbia based on the initiative from the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia: 2020-25. The areas in which IAI conducts research are a combination of Serbia’s strategic goals and the market-identified areas, with the help of experienced scientists, as particularly fruitful. At a high level, IAI researchers and scientists from around the world are grouped into five research groups
- Smart Factory
- Human Computer Interaction
- AI in Healthcare & Lifescience
- Computer Vision & Remote Sensing
- Green AI
The research groups focus on industrial AI, language understanding, health applications, mathematical foundations for machine learning, and emerging areas. Along the way, the IAI acts as an incubator for startups, encouraging entrepreneurial design thinking of researchers and scientists to patent their discoveries and create new companies to commercialize them.
The IAI strives to transfer its knowledge to employees in the economy to accelerate the modernization of the IT industry in Serbia and increase the productivity of companies in all economic sectors. That’s why IAI is where the cooperation between science and business is realized. It is done through joint projects with existing companies from different sectors to help them develop their business.
